【Oni-Hanabi】
Since 2006, it been one of the most popular events in Noboribetsu and loved more than 20 years. Yukijin, the hot spring guardian Oni living in Hell Vally, gather evil spirits of people and burn them up, wishing people’s happiness and prosperities of Noboribetsu Onsen. The frame will go up to 8 meters high in the skies above Hell Valley.
【OVERVIEW】
They need a special license to handle the fireworks, so tourists can’t experience it. However, we prepare the simple and safe version of the fireworks so that you can experience it without any license.
This year the door is open for visitors from overseas. It’s now or never opportunity! Participation in the event will give you a chance of exceptional experiences and memorable stay.

【HIGHLIGHTS】

First, see the spectacle fireworks and enjoy the performances.

Then, you can put on Oni’s mask and outfit, which are not allowed to usual visitors and even local people.

You are not required of Japanese proficiency. There will be a translator and our staff will tell you how to do it.

We are going to take some group photos and send you later. Why don’t you show them off to your family and friends who will find you cool!

Please fill up quick questionnaires after the event. You will get the certificate of participation and some special souvenirs.
【DATE】
Thursdays, 10th, 17th, 24th of September, 2026
【SCHEDULE】
[7:30 pm] Orientation
Please meet us at the gate of the event at Jigokudani.
Please bring your passport and sign the consent form.
[8:00 pm] The fireworks start. Enjoy seeing them.
[8:20 pm] Soon after the fireworks finish, please come up to the meeting spot
next to the stage.
[8:25 pm] Program will start.
[8:50 pm] Program will be over after taking some group photos.
[9:00 pm] Please go down to the tourist information with staff and fill up the questionnaires. After that, you will be given the certificate of participation and some gifts.

【THINGS TO NOTE】

Meeting spot: The gate of the event at Jigokudani (Hell Valley).

Access: 15 minutes’ walk from Noboribetsu Onsen Bus Terminal

Pick-up & Drop-off: No services available
NOTE: there will be no public transportation, including taxis, available after the program, and even in the early morning to the train station. We suggest booking a room in Nobribetsu Onsen area.

Items to bring(suggestion)
1. Suitable footwears for walking (Please don’t wear sandals, slippers and high heels for your safety).
2. You may want to use a towel as a cushion when you put on the mask
3. If you are wearing glasses, contact lenses will be better for putting on a mask.

Participation requirements
・Visitors from overseas, ages 20 and above
・Health condition: Mentally and physically healthy enough to do the simple activities such as holding the handheld firework and communication with others.
If you have some health problems or are in bad condition on the day, you are not allowed to participate in the program
【OTHER THINGS TO NOTE】
1. Please refrain from participating if you are in bad condition or feel uncomfortable on the day. Please don’t force yourself to join.
2. If you don’t show up on time without any contacts, or if you are too late, your participation will be cancelled.
3. The event will be cancelled under bad weather conditions.
4. You won’t get any refund for any personal reasons including 1 and 2 above
(Cancellation & refund policies are based on the ZAIKO, the web ticket agent)
5. The organizer is not liable for any damages and losses during the program. Please keep your personal belongings including valuables or ask us to keep them.
6. Please follow the instruction and rules of the organizer for safe and smooth procedures of the event.
7. Your participation will be dismissed even during the event in case of those misbehaviors below:
・troubles with other participants and obstruction of the events
・illegal and antisocial contacts in Japan
8. You are allowed to take some photos and movies in the public areas, but please don’t disturb the privacy.
9. Please co-operate to fill up quick questionnaires after the event.
10. Photos and movies taken during the program may be used on our official website or in medias. If you don’t agree with the exposure, please let us know in advance.
11. Please remind that there are inherent risks, such as injuries during the program. Please consider obtaining insurance on your own.
